Welcome to Karen Mann's Lab Page

We are a multi-disciplinary lab in the Department of Molecular Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. The Mann lab uses Sleeping Beauty (SB) insertional mutagenesis as a gene discovery tool to identify drivers that promote cancer initiation and progression. We employ sequencing and computational approaches to define novel cooperating drivers, and in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches to delineate the biological context in which these drivers cooperate. Our main focus is defining driver genes in pancreatic cancer that confer metastatic potential through non-mutational mechanisms. We are also interested in how sub clonal drivers contribute to cancer progression and therapy resistance, and we study this in a mouse model of myeloid leukemia. The goal of our research is to identify signaling nodes that may be explored for diagnostic or therapeutic efficacy to better treat cancer patients.

We are looking for innovative PhD scientists with a passion for cancer research.
