Ariel Quintana, Ph.D.

Research Scientist III

I did my PhD study under the supervision of Prof. Markus Hoth in the program of Molecular, Physiological and Pharmacological analysis of cellular membrane transport and signaling pathways in the “Medical Faculty of Saarland University, Germany”. Then, I joined Professor Anjana Rao’s research group in the “Immune Disease Institute (IDI) at Harvard Medical School” as a postdoctoral research fellow from the Deutsche Forschung Gemeinschaft (DFG) for two years. Later, I was promoted to Instructor in the “Department of Signaling and Gene Expression Research at La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (LJI)”. Then, I got a Research Scientist position at the “Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard”. Currently, I am working at the “Moffitt Cancer Center” as a Senior Staff Research Scientist III in the hematology translational medicine group of Prof. Eric Padron, where I am leading the effort of discovering novel leukemia therapeutic targets by using the state of the art CRISPR screening technology.

Traci Kruer, Ph.D.

Research Scientist I

I received a B.S. degree in Molecular Biology from Purdue University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Louisville. In January 2018,  I joined Dr. Padron's lab as a postdoctoral fellow. My current research involves determining mechanisms of drug resistance in TP53 mutated MDS and AML.

Amy McLemore, M.S.

Research Associate III

I earned my MS in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University while working in an inherited disease research lab. At Moffitt, my basic/translational research focuses on sterile inflammation and innate immune activation in myelodysplastic syndromes. My clinical research involves biological correlative studies for multiple malignant hematology clinical trials and focuses on discerning treatment response on a molecular level and discovering new response biomarkers.

Hannah Newman

Research Associate II

I received my B.S. in Health Sciences with a concentration in Microbiology from East Tennessee State University in 2017. During my last summer of undergrad, I applied to the SPARK program (Summer Program for the Advancement of Research Knowledge) at Moffitt and was placed in the Padron lab, where I worked on engraftment kinetics in mouse models. After graduating, I came back to a research associate position with the Padron lab. I mainly focus on credentialing our CMML PDX model’s potential to recapitulate clinical responses, and most recently, the role of cytokines in disease progression.

Christopher Letson

Graduate Student

Graduated from UVA with a bachelors in biochemistry

Currently a graduate student in Moffitt’s Cancer Biology PHD program.

I am currently working on validating a combination of inhibitors that could potentially be used to treat CMML.
