Project: “Modeling Paths to Health Equity", Florida DOH Bankhead Coley Cancer Grant 9BC04, (PI: George Rust), amount: $800,487 (period time: 05/28/2019-05/31/2022). Role on Project: Research Faculty. Performed Research: extracted data from the SEER-Medicare database, Florida cancer data system and behavioral risk factor surveillance system, developed machine learning models to predict racial disparities in breast cancer stage-at-diagnosis and overall survival, and used counterfactual inference to evaluate the contributions of patient-specific factors to these racial disparities.

Project: “Optimal Decision Making in Radiotherapy Using Panomics Analytics", NCI/NIH R01-CA233487, (PI: Issam El Naqa), amount: $2,707,842 (period time: 06/06/2019-05/31/2024). Role on Project: Research Staff. Performed Research: developed a situation awareness Bayesian network (SABN) approach by incorporating expert knowledge into feature selection and Bayesian network structure learning. The SABN not only is able to predict radiation treatment outcomes but also can help physicians conduct what-if analysis and identify the best treatment plans before and during the course of the radiotherapy, which has a potential of gaining physicians' trust in clinical practice.

Project: “Optimization of High Dose Conformal Therapy", NCI/NIH P01-CA059827, (PI: Randy Ten Haken), amount: $13,750,000 (period time 05/15/2014-04/30/2019). Role on Project: Research Staff. Performed Research: developed data-driven, explainable decision support systems to unravel the relationship among lung cancer patients' biophysical characteristics, predict each individual patient's radiation treatment outcomes, and identify the best personalized treatment plans before and during the course of the radiotherapy.

Project: “CAREER: Creation of a Predictive and Dynamic Life Cycle Assessment Tool", NSF CAREER-1127584, (PI: Shelie Miller), amount: $403,000 (period time 01/01/2009-12/31/2013). Role on Project: Research Staff. Performed Research: employed game theory and agent-based modeling to describe the interactions among stakeholders in a renewable biofuel supply chain, and identified efficient incentive strategies to promote the development of the supply chain in comparison with current policies.

Project: “Border Security Risk Assessment and Mitigation Decision Framework", Department of Homeland Security through the National Center for Border Security and Immigration (BORDERS) under Grant Number 2008-ST-061-BS0002, (period time 08/2009-05/2011). Role on Project: Graduate Student. Performed Research: predicted potential criminal activities and developed sequential risk mitigation strategies for border security.

Project: “Center for Cloud and Autonomic Computing", NSF IIP-0758579, (PI: Salim Hariri), amount: $652,000 (period time 1/15/2008-12/31/2015). Role on Project: Graduate Student. Performed Research: developed a novel game theory-based reinforcement learning approach to identify proactive defense strategies for cyber security.
