  • The DeNicola lab attends the Florida State Fair. 
  • The DeNicola lab attends the Keystone Tumor Metabolism meeting. Gina was an organizer and presenter, Amanda delivered an oral presentation and Yumi attended virtually.
  • Lejin Sun officially joins the DeNicola lab as a PhD student. Welcome back Lejin!

March 2024

  • Gina presents the lab's research at the Miami Tumor Biology Symposium

  • Gina organizes the 2nd annual Central Florida Triangle Metabolism Meeting with Tim Osborne at Johns Hopkins All Children’s and Bret Goodpaster at Advent Health Translational Research Institute and Clay Mathews at University of Florida. Gina presented a talk and Yumi, Sang Jun and Amanda presented posters. 
  • Gina organizes the Metals and Redox session at ASBMB and presents on the labs work on cysteine and ferroptosis. 
  • Yumi presents her research at Metabolism Club.
  • Jemma Parsons joins the lab as an undergraduate researcher. Welcome Jemma!
  • Amanda is accepted into multiple cancer biology PhD programs and decides to attend Northwestern in the Fall. Congratulations Amanda!

 

April 2024 

  • Pritin's march madness bracket wins the lab competition!
  • Gina presents in the AACR Education session "Targeted Mechanisms of Nutrient Acquisition and Utilization" and the Major Symposium "Metabolic Regulation of the Cancer Cell State" at the AACR Annual Meeting.
  • Gina presents the lab's research at the University of New Mexico.
  • Gina co-organized the 2024 Cancer Metabolism Showcase and Workshops. Yumi delivered an oral presentation and Amanda and Sang Jun presented posters. 

 

May 2024 

  • Nate (now Moffitt Faculty) published his paper about the role of mitochondrial glutathione catabolism in ferroptosis in Nature Communications. 
  • Gina presents the lab's research at the British Columbia Cancer Research Institute.
  • Collaborative work between former postdoc Paloma and the Coloff lab about the effect of physiological culture media on drug sensitivity is published in JCI Insight. 
  • The DeNicola lab attends the Moffitt Scientific Symposium. Yumi and Sang Jun present posters.
  • Former DeNicola lab volunteer Sae Bom Lee successful defends her PhD. Congratulations Sae Bom!
